Job Summary
The Activity Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in assisted living and nursing home settings. This position involves planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities tailored to the interests and abilities of seniors, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's care needs. The Activity Coordinator will work closely with Carer and other staff to ensure a supportive and stimulating environment for all residents.
Duties
* Develop and implement a diverse range of activities that cater to the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents.
* Coordinate special events, outings, and group activities that encourage participation and foster community spirit.
* Assess residents' interests and abilities to tailor programmes that promote engagement and well-being.
* Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities are suitable for residents with varying levels of care needs, including those requiring dementia or Alzheimer's care.
* Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve activity offerings.
* Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming events and gather input on future activities.
* Ensure a safe environment during all activities by adhering to health and safety regulations.
Skills
* Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or senior care environments is essential.
* Knowledge of dementia care practices and experience in caregiving is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication skills are crucial for interacting with residents, families, and team members.
* Ability to plan engaging activities that cater to a diverse group of seniors.
* Strong organisational skills to manage schedules, resources, and documentation effectively.
* A compassionate approach towards elderly individuals, particularly those with cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer's disease.
