Job Title: Team Leads within Signals & Telecoms
Location: Leeds or Wakefield
Salary: 54,698 + shift allowance
The Role:
Youll lead, motivate and develop a high performing team responsible for inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal activities. Every day will bring new challenges and the chance to make a tangible difference to railway safety and performance.
Youll:
Direct and organise team activities, ensuring safe, efficient delivery of all work
Establish and maintain robust safety arrangements and safe systems of work
Proactively manage quality, compliance and the competence of your team
Ensure vehicles, tools, equipment and materials are fit for purpose
Produce essential reports that help keep our operations running smoothly
Work hands on, setting the standard for excellence across the team
This is a safety critical role, which may involve days, nights, weekends, and on-call working, and is subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.
Please note there will be a requirement to work on call
Well look to you to direct, organise and motivate a high-performance team. From inspection and faulting through to maintenance and renewal, youll play a hands-on role. Youll make sure everything is done efficiently and to the highest standards. Safety will be a priority. Youll establish appropriate safety arrangements and make sure staff and contractors alike follow safe systems of work. Proactively controlling and checking the quality of work and the competence of your people, youll see to it that assets are fully compliant, and all vehicles, plant, tools, equipment and materials are fit for purpose. Along the way, youll compile a range of vital reports.
Essential Criteria
Experience of organising and controlling the safe and efficient delivery of work
Excellent communication skills, both in person and in writing
Knowledge of discipline-specific maintenance, inspection, faulting, and renewal techniques including working standards NR/L3/SIG/10663 and NR/L3/SIG/11231
Knowledge of relevant standards, procedures, and instructions
A clear and inspirational leader with a strong sense of direction
Must have a valid IRSE Combined Signalling Maintainer & Fault Finder Licence 1.4.23
Desirable Criteria
Hold or be working towards an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have attained the appropriate level of knowledge gained through equivalent relevant experience
Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need
The candidate will have experience in Railway Signalling, ideally Team Leading
A premium of 10% of the basic hourly rate will be paid for qualifying hours worked as detailed below:
Shift Qualifying Hours
Weekday Nights 18:00 to 06:00 inclusive, Monday to Thursday
Weekend 18:00 Friday to 06:00 Monday inclusive
The shift premium only applies to qualifying hours worked regardless of the start and / or finish time of a shift. For example, where a shift starts Monday 16:00 and ends 23:00, only the five hours worked from 18:00 to 23:00 qualify for shift premium. There is no guaranteed minimum entitlement to shift premium.
