RECRUITMENTiQ is working in partnership with a a local public sector organisation. Due to maternity leave,they are looking for a Finance Officer to support the RFO in the management of the financial affairs for a fixed term of twelve months.
Hours 22.5 per week over 3 days.
The Finance Officer will be responsible for the financial affairs and will support the Town Clerk & RFO in providing the Council with detailed financial guidance and reporting.
The successful applicant will be studying or have completed and passed an Accounting Course at level 2 or above, such as AAT or have at least 3 years experience of working in an accounting environment. They will be able to carry out all aspects of financial transaction processing up to the completion of annual accounts, will be highly literate and numerate, have good IT and presentational skills, and be able to communicate well with all types of audience. Experience of Local Government and familiarity with the Joint Panel on Accountability and Governance (JPAG) Practitioners Guide and RBS Rialtas Omega accounting software would be preferable.
Main duties and responsibilities:
* Prepare month-end, quarterly and year-end accounts and reports
* Prepare the annual budget
* Co-operate in twice yearly internal audits
* Prepare external audit (AGAR) report and supporting paperwork
* Attend Finance and Trust Fund committee meetings and prepare supporting documentation
* Sales & Purchase Ledgers
* Prepare VAT return
* Payments/Cashing cheques (banking)
* Update Councillor signatory details for banking purposes.
* Manage petty cash
* Manage Online Banking including bank reconciliation
* Manage and prepare Trust Fund accounts and annual returns
