The Biosciences division currently has an exciting career opportunity for an Assistant Technician 1 to join our new and evolving BioSciences Lab Services group.
The successful candidate will work within a team supporting various operational areas for the pharmaceutical, veterinary pharmaceutical, and chemical/agrochemical industries by evaluating the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of new chemical and biological entities, both in vitro and in vivo, in a variety of test systems (cells, animals, plants, and soils).
You will be responsible for the following activities (full training provided):
* Providing laboratory support to Study Directors in the day-to-day running of studies.
* Performing horticultural tasks such as growing and monitoring plants, crop maintenance, implementing fertiliser and pest prevention regimes, and assisting with horticultural aspects of scientific research.
* Assisting with study setup, sample collection, and data generation.
* Conducting laboratory work in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and Good Laboratory Practice principles.
* Carrying out routine laboratory and equipment maintenance tasks as delegated.
* Maintaining a safe working environment by observing safety procedures, working methods, and using protective clothing and equipment properly.
The minimum requirements for the Assistant Technician 1 position are:
* National 5 qualifications (Assistant Technician) or HNC (or higher), or relevant on-job experience (Technician).
* A positive, constructive attitude towards working in a busy laboratory environment and strong attention to detail.
* Good computer literacy skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Salary will be £23,842.35 per annum.
