The Disrepair Officer is acting as the operational lead in investigating and resolving disrepair claims. This role is instrumental in ensuring that the disrepair claim is progressed within specified guidelines, reducing tenant dissatisfaction and minimising the council’s exposure to legal and financial risks

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Disrepair Officer, you will be responsible for managing housing disrepair claims from the initial complaint through to resolution. Your role involves ensuring that the Pre-Action Protocol is strictly adhered to and that the disrepair claim process is conducted efficiently and in accordance with legal requirements. You will collaborate closely with legal teams, work managers, surveyors, and contractors to investigate claims, coordinate repairs, and communicate effectively with tenants to achieve positive outcomes.

Your role is crucial to Camden’s mission to maintain tenant satisfaction and mitigate the impact of disrepair on residents’ lives. You will ensure compliance with the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Disrepair Cases and Camden’s own disrepair policies and procedures.

We are looking for someone with strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high quality housing services. You will have experience in managing housing disrepair cases, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.

Proven experience in managing housing disrepair or similar housing related issues.

Knowledge of housing legislation and Pre-Action Protocol for housing disrepair claims.

Ability to co-ordinate and oversee disrepair claims until the case has been closed.

Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills, including the ability to manage challenging conversations.
