West Lothian Council operates a fleet of around 1, vehicle and plant items supporting service delivery to the residents of West Lothian. The Service continues to enhance operations in our state-of-the-art workshop facility at Whitehill Service Centre, Bathgate and we are now recruiting for a Tyre Fitter Handy Person to join an award-winning team forming part of the existing Fleet and Plant Workshop Team to strengthen and support workshop Operator Licence compliance across the organisation.
Reporting to the Fleet Senior Technicians, this exciting and challenging role will see you responsible for undertaking regular Operator Licence fleet tyre compliance audits, carrying out vehicle and plant tyre replacements and reacting to service needs supporting technicians and tyre stores as required
You will work 36 hours per week over Monday to Friday. Overtime working may be required at peak times. If you possess the following skills and experience and would like the opportunity to join a highly motivated team then we would love to receive your application:
1. Must have demonstrable 3 years’ experience in tyre fitting and repair
2. Must be current with matters of “Operator Licence undertakings” and the “Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness”, as well as vehicle Inspection Manuals.
3. Demonstrable qualifications in tyre fitting
4. Demonstrable ability to understand and assist with accurate budget forecasting.
5. Demonstrable ability to understand and produce accurate fleet tyre related audits.
6. A high-level people skill is essential.
7. Hold a full and valid driving licence is a must and be willing to train towards an HGV licence.
8. Educated in a relevant discipline or with equivalent direct tyre fitting experience.
9. Experienced in managing a large, multi-variant fleet and its tyre functions.
10. A sound knowledge and understanding of the work portfolio, which includes the council’s fleet, plant and equipment assets and various legislative requirements such as LOLER and PUWER, HAVS, Noise and Tyre regulations.
11. A proven record of delivering required results within a customer focused organisation.
12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
13. Ability to drive service delivery to a consistently high standard.
14. Proven corporate thinker and partnership worker.
