Your Contribution as Head of Year
This is a key leadership role where you will be responsible for the overarching pastoral well-being and personal development of an entire year group. Your responsibilities will include:

Year Group Leadership: Providing strong leadership and strategic direction for the pastoral and academic progress of your designated year group.

Team Management: Line-managing, training, and supporting a team of form tutors to ensure consistency and excellence in daily pastoral provision.

Student Support: Implementing proactive pastoral interventions, monitoring student attendance, punctuality, and behaviour, and addressing concerns effectively.

Parental Engagement: Building strong, positive relationships with parents and carers, facilitating effective communication regarding student welfare and progress.

Behaviour and Discipline: Overseeing and managing student behaviour within the year group, implementing school policies fairly and consistently.

Curriculum Development: Contributing to and overseeing the delivery of the pastoral, PSHE, or RSE curriculum for your year group.

Collaboration: Working effectively with external agencies and internal support staff to ensure comprehensive care for vulnerable students.

We Are Seeking

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a track record of effective classroom teaching.
*
Demonstrable experience in a significant pastoral role within a secondary school (e.g., Head of Year, Assistant Head of Year, or equivalent leadership in student welfare).

An expert understanding of current safeguarding practices and a commitment to protecting children.
*
Outstanding communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
*
The ability to inspire, motivate, and manage both students and staff.
