The Avenue Children’s Centre is looking to appoint a motivated, energetic and proactive Apprentice Nursery Assistant to join its friendly team and support with the care, provision and supervision of children attending this vibrant Early Years setting.
Working Hours: Part-time (30 hours per week, Monday – Friday, various shifts between 7.45am and 6.00pm, 52 weeks including Teacher Training Days). Salary: £6.40 per hour (for first 12 months, then minimum wage for age). Contract: Fixed term (12 – 18 months / until completion of course). Required: September 2025.
The Avenue Children’s Centre is a vibrant and friendly pre-school dedicated to creating a safe and exciting environment for children aged three months to three (plus) years to play, learn, and thrive. Located in Warminster, Wiltshire, we focus on each child's individuality to help them achieve their goals. In January 2023, we retained our ‘Good’ Ofsted rating, praised for helping children flourish. Our setting is open from 7.45am to 6.00pm, fifty weeks a year, and we also offer Breakfast, Holiday, and After School clubs for children aged three to eleven. We are part of the Acorn Education Trust, which offers opportunities for collaboration and improvement in local education.
The Apprentice Nursery Assistant will gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced staff to supervise, care for, and assist children while working towards a relevant NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) childcare qualification. Responsibilities include supporting children’s health, safety, cleanliness, and wellbeing, such as washing, changing, feeding, observing and recording progress, updating logs, and liaising with families.
We are looking for someone who:
* Has a passion for delivering creative, high-quality, and exciting opportunities for children;
* Has solid interpersonal and communication skills to work with children, staff, and parents;
* Is self-motivated, energetic, and proactive, ensuring safe, high-quality care;
* Has experience working with children or in supporting their learning and activities;
* Is a strong team player;
* Has a positive and flexible attitude;
* Can demonstrate a warm and caring approach with children.
We can offer the successful candidate:
* An ambitious, vibrant workplace with enthusiastic children and staff passionate about learning;
* A supportive environment where everyone feels valued;
* Opportunities for training and progression;
* Support from the Acorn Education Trust, with excellent opportunities to work with experienced colleagues;
* A clear and supportive induction process.
