Job Description:
To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team in a unique, innovative, and fast-growing service, you will need to be adaptable, creative, and able to provide high levels of support to patients through their recovery from eating disorders and associated co-morbidities.
As a Health Care Assistant (HCA), you will assist nursing staff in implementing care plans at Schoen Clinic York. Nursing staff will develop detailed care plans based on best practices (e.g., NICE guidelines), and HCAs will participate in developing and executing daily activities to support these plans.
Principle Duties:
1. Work within an awareness of NICE guidelines.
2. Understand the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding responsibilities, and human rights.
3. Establish therapeutic relationships with patients.
4. Undertake regular physical observations of patients and report on their risk levels.
5. Support and supervise patients during community leave.
6. Support and supervise patients at mealtimes, including Naso-gastric feeding support.
7. Liaise with Staff Nurses, Occupational Therapists, and MDT members regarding unit activities.
8. Report concerns to Staff Nurses.
9. Follow Health and Safety policies according to Schoen Clinic guidelines.
10. Demonstrate safeguarding awareness in dealings with young people and families.
11. Assist therapists and psychologists with delivering therapies as permitted and agreed.
12. Support other on-site services as needed.
