Overview
An exciting opportunity within the School of Science and Public Services for a part-time lecturer in public services. This role is suited to someone with experience of uniformed and/or public services. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about making a difference to the lives and careers of our learners, with the ability to impart industry knowledge and career experience.
Teacher training will be provided for the right candidate. Candidates without significant industry experience but with a criminology degree are welcome to apply.
Responsibilities
* Teach across public services curriculum programmes, including Levels 1–3, and from September 2026 the Level 3 Criminology with Public Services course.
* Contribute to and improve the teaching team and its delivery in well-equipped facilities.
* Promote, support and embed English and Maths skills within planning and delivery of all teaching.
* Support and maintain links with local employers to enhance learner opportunities.
* Work on a part-time maternity cover basis, 22 hours per week, at the Watford campus, joining the team from August 2026. This is a fixed-term position until August 2027.
Qualifications and Experience
* High level of industry knowledge and career experience in uniformed and/or public services is preferred.
* Teaching experience is desirable but not required; however, relevant industry experience or a criminology degree is welcomed.
* Commitment to upskilling and training; teacher training will be provided for the right candidate.
