Alex Mayer MP is seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Constituency Assistant (Engagement and Visits).
This is a key role at the heart of her constituency work.
You will take the lead in proactively identifying, arranging, and managing the MP’s constituency visits and engagements by speaking to local organisations, charities, businesses, and community groups.
You will manage invitations, balancing competing priorities and ensuring the MP’s diary is well‑structured and efficient.
This is a hands‑on role. The successful candidate will enjoy picking up the phone to line up constituency engagements. You will take pride in turning the MP’s constituency activities into strong local and regional media coverage.
The nitty‑gritty matters. It’s down to you to ensure your MP arrives at every engagement on time and fully briefed. Afterwards, you’ll follow up to make sure activity in the constituency resonates in Westminster and vice versa.
You are a great writer who can deliver sharp, engaging copy to deadlines. And you’ll have great political judgement.
As a key player in a small and busy office, there will also always be important constituent correspondence to draft plus projects to manage including the annual Christmas card competition.
This role requires a commitment to the Labour Party and trade union movement.
The role is based in the Leighton Buzzard constituency office at least two days a week, with the remaining days available for home working. This is a full‑time position, but part‑time, job‑share, and term‑time only applications are welcome.
