Senior Support Worker – New Service Opening
Are you an experienced Support Worker looking for an exciting new challenge? Do you want to make a real difference in people’s lives from day one?
Iris Care Group is thrilled to announce the opening of a brand-new service at Whitworth Road Swindon, and we are looking for a passionate Senior Support Worker to join our launch team. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the service, lead a committed staff team, and deliver outstanding person-centred care.
About the Role
As a Senior Support Worker, you will support individuals with Autism, Learning Disabilities, Behaviours that challenge, Physical Disabilities, Mental Health Conditions, Epilepsy, and Complex Needs.
You will champion our Building Better Lives (BBL) framework, embedding Active Support principles in everything you do. Your focus will be helping individuals live as equal citizens — promoting independence, choice, dignity, and meaningful community inclusion.
This role combines hands-on support with leadership responsibilities, including supervising staff, contributing to rota management, supporting medication processes, and ensuring the highest standards of care from the very start of this new service.
Key Responsibilities
5. Provide high-quality, person-centred support tailored to individual goals and Positive Behaviour Support plans
6. Support the Registered/Home Manager with delegated supervisory duties
7. Complete staff supervisions and appraisals
8. Lead, mentor, and inspire less experienced colleagues
9. Manage and upload rotas to maintain safe staffing levels
10. Administer and audit medication in line with policy
11. Promote independence, life skills, and community engagement
12. Act as a keyworker, completing monthly reviews and advocating for individuals
13. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safeguarding and regulatory standards
14. Work flexibly across the service as required
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
15. QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), willingness to work towards Level 3
16. Caring, reliable, and empathetic values
17. Good communication and basic IT skills
18. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
19. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
Desirable:
20. Experience supporting people with Autism, Learning Disabilities, or Complex Needs
21. Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or working towards)
22. Experience supervising or mentoring staff
23. Full UK driving licence
