Lead Digital Business Analyst
Digital Policing Directorate – West Yorkshire Police
Location: Force Headquarters, Wakefield
Contract Type: Permanent | Full-Time | 37 hours per week |Hybrid Working
Salary: £46,503 – £50,088 per annum
Role Summary
West Yorkshire Police is seeking a highly experienced and strategically minded Lead Digital Business Analyst to lead the Business Analysis function within the Digital Policing Directorate. This senior role is critical to the successful delivery of digital transformation initiatives that support operational policing and organisational change.
You will be responsible for shaping and overseeing the business analysis capability, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities and the effective delivery of technology-enabled solutions. The role demands a candidate with deep analytical expertise, stakeholder engagement skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
What You Will Be Doing
Provide oversight of the Business Analysis function within the Innovation Team.
Lead the development and implementation of business analysis standards, methodologies, and best practices.
Direct the elicitation, documentation, and validation of business and technical requirements across a portfolio of digital projects.
Ensure the production of high-quality business process models and requirements specifications that support effective solution design and delivery.
Act as a key liaison between business stakeholders, technical teams, and project managers to ensure shared understanding and alignment.
Champion user-centred design and service improvement through evidence-based analysis.
Prioritise and manage competing demands, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet organisational needs.
Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and trends relevant to policing and public sector innovation.
Support the professional development of Business Analysts through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
What We Are Looking For
Professional qualification in Business Analysis (e.g., APMG DSDM, BCS, or equivalent).
Extensive experience in business analysis within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
Demonstrable leadership experience, including line management and capability development.
Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
Strong knowledge of business process modelling, requirements engineering, and analysis techniques.
Familiarity with prioritisation frameworks such as MoSCoW and delivery methodologies including Agile, Prince2, and DSDM.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
High level of analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
