Dimensional Calibration Engineer – Chorley / Preston area
Full-time role; excellent salary (DoE) + benefits. Working circa 40 hours (Mon – Fri days). Primarily calibrating dimensional, mechanical and hand measuring instruments to traceable and UKAS standards.

What You Will Do:
* Conduct testing of diesel and gasoline combustion and aftertreatment systems in vehicles and testbed environments.
* Support environmental test trips and collaborate with third-party suppliers to ensure robust calibrations.
* Develop and calibrate diesel particulate filter (DPF) systems, including soot and fuel-in-oil models.
* Utilise tools such as INCA/MDA, Concerto, CRETA, and Matlab/Simulink to analyse data and optimise calibration.
* Coach and mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and expertise to support their development.
What You Will Bring:
* Strong knowledge of calibration tools such as INCA/MDA, Concerto, CRETA, and Matlab/Simulink.
* Experience in emissions testing for internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
* Ability to conduct testbed development for combustion and aftertreatment systems.
* A full UK or European driving licence and passport for European test trips.
* A degree in Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the technical development of base engine calibration (air charge, torque structure, fueling, knock control, exhaust temperature modelling).
* Develop and optimise engine emissions control strategies.
* Calibrate across environments: test rigs, engine testbeds, vehicles, remote setups.
* Daily development work on engine testbeds and data analysis.
* Engage with clients and coordinate project deliverables; provide technical reporting.
* Mentor junior team members and travel to customer sites as required.
Key Competencies:
* Engine calibration or related discipline; EMS calibration experience.
