A client within the Public Sector based in Derbyshire is currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join their Estates / Capital Projects Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority or public sector construction environment. The Role Key purpose of the role: To provide professional quantity surveying and commercial management services, ensuring construction and capital projects are delivered within budget, on time, and in compliance with legal, contractual, and quality standards, while achieving best value for money. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to: • Preparing detailed cost estimates, cost plans, and project budgets at all stages of delivery • Advising clients and stakeholders on project affordability, value for money, and financial risk • Preparing tender documentation, including bills of quantities, and evaluating tender submissions • Managing construction contracts, including variations, claims, and dispute resolution • Monitoring project expenditure, cash flow, and assessing interim payments The Candidate To be considered for this role you will require two to three of the following essential qualifications : • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline • Membership (or working towards membership) of RICS, CIOB, or a similar professional body • Relevant experience delivering construction or capital works projects within a public sector or local authority setting The below skills would be beneficial for the role: • Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g. JCT, NEC) • Experience of cost control, tendering, and contract administration • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £29 per hour Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35) (approximately £21 per hour PAYE ).
