Pride in Place South Telford – Neighbourhood Programme Lead Make a lasting difference to South Telford communities Woodside has been selected as one of the first areas in the country to take part in the Government’s Pride in Place programme – a bold, ten-year commitment to strengthen communities, improve neighbourhood environments and give local people a stronger voice in shaping their area. This national investment is being significantly enhanced by Telford & Wrekin Council, with a further £10 million committed to drive long‑term, meaningful change across Woodside, Brookside, Sutton Hill and the wider South Telford area. We are now looking for an experienced, passionate and community‑focused Neighbourhood Programme Lead to work alongside residents and partners to turn this ambition into reality. About the role As Pride in Place – Neighbourhood Programme Lead, you will play a central role in supporting the newly established Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board to co‑design and deliver a ten‑year plan for South Telford. You will act as the bridge between the community, the Board and partner organisations, ensuring local priorities are translated into real, tangible improvements that create lasting impact. This is a high‑profile, hands‑on role that combines community engagement, programme leadership, governance and partnership working. Key responsibilities You will: Lead the development of the Pride in Place Plan for submission to MHCLG (Winter 2026/27) Support the Chair and Neighbourhood Board, including preparing agendas, reports, minutes and action plans Provide advice on governance, decision‑making and procurement to ensure the Board operates effectively Work closely with residents and community groups to shape and deliver neighbourhood projects Manage and monitor the Pride in Place budget, producing regular financial and performance reports Translate community insight and data (e.g. health, crime, education, employment) into practical action Identify and secure additional funding opportunities and lead on external funding bids Build strong relationships with councillors, the local MP, community organisations and partner agencies Oversee volunteers and any paid staff, fostering inclusive and meaningful participation Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to meet community needs What we’re looking for You will bring: At least 2 years’ experience in community development or a similar role Strong experience of Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) and mobilising communities A proven ability to manage complex projects, budgets and multiple stakeholders Experience of supporting or working with boards and formal governance arrangements Confidence working with elected members, senior leaders and external partners Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and presentational The ability to engage meaningfully with diverse communities using inclusive approaches Strong planning, organisational and reporting skills A formal qualification in community work, project management or governance is desirable, but equivalent experience is equally valued. Local knowledge of South Telford communities would be a distinct advantage.
