Health & Safety Advisor (QHSE)
Location: Melksham Salary: 32,000 - 36,000 DOE Full-time Permanent
We are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Advisor to join a growing manufacturing business, supporting the Head of QHSE in maintaining a safe, compliant, and high-performing working environment.
This is a key role where you will act as the first point of contact for all Health & Safety matters, helping to drive a strong safety culture across the business.
The Role
You will play a hands‑on role in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, while actively supporting continuous improvement across site operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct risk assessments and implement safe systems of work
* Investigate accidents, near misses, and non-conformities
* Manage COSHH assessments and control hazardous substances
* Oversee PPE selection, issue, and training
* Manage contractor activities, including RAMS and permits to work
* Coordinate inspection, servicing, and testing of equipment (including PAT testing)
* Support DSE assessments for employees
* Carry out internal audits, HSE inspections, and environmental monitoring
* Support ISO management systems and compliance activities
About You
* Proven experience in a similar Health & Safety role
* Strong knowledge of ISO45001 / OHSAS18001
* Recognised H&S qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, IOSH)
* Experience conducting audits and investigations
* Confident using Microsoft Office and systems
* Proactive, organised, and able to influence at all levels
Desirable:
* IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
* Knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO14001
