About The Role
Our client, a leading engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Gas Projects to join their team on a permanent basis in Warrington. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact EPC projects across a range of sectors including Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, and Food. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical and piping engineering designs from concept through to execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Report to the Mechanical & Piping Engineering Manager and lead mechanical and piping design activities within multi-discipline EPCM or EPC projects.
* Deliver engineering solutions across all project phases, from concept design to detailed execution.
* Take ownership of mechanical and piping design scope, ensuring delivery within time and budget constraints, while managing change control and interdisciplinary coordination.
* Participate in internal and external design reviews and ensure client acceptance of design deliverables.
* Deliver projects working in other sectors (Oil & Gas, Energy, Utilities, Nuclear, Chemicals, Food) across small and large projects.
Your Profile
* A degree (BEng or MEng) in Mechanical Engineering.
* 5+ years of experience as a Lead, Senior, or Principal Engineer on multi-discipline engineering projects.
* Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with IMechE or equivalent (preferred).
* Strong knowledge of general engineering and IGEM standards (preferred).
* Proven experience in mechanical design, including specifications, calculations, drawings, 3D models, and compliance assessments.
* Familiarity with piping design codes (ASME, BS EN) and regulatory frameworks such as PED and PESR.
* Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, E3D, and Caesar II.
* Good knowledge and experience with the production and/or having input to mechanical specifications, basis of design, scopes of work, calculations, drawings, 3D models, schedules, design risk assessments and directive compliance assessments.
* Understanding of change control procedures and ability to lead design review meetings.
* Eligibility for UK security clearance (preferred).
