About the Role
A large and diverse further education institution is seeking a proactive and experienced Deputy Head of Finance Operations to support the effective delivery of financial services. This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing the Accounts Payable and Purchasing functions, supporting treasury operations, and deputising for the Head of Finance Operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Accounts Payable team and daily operations.
* Oversee supplier payments, month-end procedures, and purchasing systems.
* Monitor and reconcile supplier accounts, overseas expenditure, and petty cash.
* Produce financial reports for statutory and management purposes.
* Support the implementation of new financial systems and staff training.
* Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance and timely responses.
* Deputise for the Head of Finance Operations and support banking systems.
* Lead team meetings, support staff development, and uphold service quality.
* Ensure adherence to financial regulations and contribute to continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
* Minimum AAT or NVQ Level 4 in finance or equivalent.
* Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable, Purchasing, and treasury management.
* Proven experience in team leadership and financial operations.
* Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and financial software.
* Strong communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Experience with VAT returns (desirable).
