Facilities Engineer
Location: Margam, UK
Responsibilities
* Provide electrical and instrumentation expertise for the Port Talbot plant.
* Supervise personnel in line with Permit to Work requirements and contribute to SHEQ goals.
* Plan and coordinate maintenance activities across all sites to meet company and industry standards.
* Manage plant operations in a multidisciplinary capacity to meet customer demands and budget targets.
* Monitor plant reliability and performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
* Maintain liquid and gaseous supplies to merchant and pipeline customers within contractual conditions.
* Inspect plant equipment regularly, diagnose faults, and support corrective actions.
* Start up and shut down plant equipment as needed, and prepare plant for maintenance by executing isolations and gas analysis.
* Operate independently for most routine and some non‑routine tasks.
* Select and supervise competent contractors to ensure safe and effective maintenance delivery.
Qualifications
* Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Instrument, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (HNC preferred).
* More than five years of practical experience in a technical role.
* Familiarity with hazardous environments and CompEx Level 1–4 certification preferred.
* Willingness to respond to emergencies and operational needs outside normal working hours, including 24‑hour call‑out coverage.
* Strong understanding of industry standards, statutory codes of practice, Permit to Work procedures, and current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
* Confidence and safety when operating chemical and process plant equipment.
* Consistent delivery of high‑quality customer service, even under pressure.
