Within the Radio and Satcoms platform, our role is to support the availability and security of the network 24/7/365 combining operational and engineering resources to meet the customer demand. In your role as an
End-to-End Solution Designer you’ll work with key stakeholders and partners to identify how we could meet our customer’s needs, creating a solution, providing specialist advice and assisting the field engineering teams in delivering for our customers.


What you’ll be doing

• Setting the strategy for the use of Radio across BT, influencing Regulatory and Standards bodies to meet BT’s business needs
• Defines and sets all Operational policies covering the use of Radio technologies across BT Group.
• Key contributor into business cases. Technical expert during vendor conversations.
• Providing advice and guidance to the Network design authority for a complex technology in a challenging regulatory environment.
• Design scoping and design of the overall network platform and/or customer solution, as well as estimating the time and type of resource needed to support the deliverables with increasing cost impact and time duration.
• Definition, handling and managing all the regulatory, spectrum and safety aspects of Radio technologies. This includes any action under the Wireless Telegraphy Act (Prosecution/defence) and defining setting/policy with OFCOM
• Technical ambassador for the company facing outwards to both customers and vendors. Providing expert technical consulting to customers at a platform and/or overall solution level.
• Work with colleagues in delivery teams to define the resources and time required for projects/tasks.


Skills and Experience

• Detailed understanding of the radio environment, current and proposed designs, the customer requirements which inform these designs, and the end-to-end service wrap.
• Knowledge and experience of Antennas and RF Propagation
• Knowledge and experience of Modulation methodologies.
• Knowledge and experience of IP Connectivity, Network Fundamentals and Security.
• Knowledge and Experience of OSS Design, Network Integration and solution testing.
• Recognised as an expert in the relevant technologies, and an active contributor to best practice in the wider community.
• Detailed knowledge of Ofcom rules on use of radio spectrum to ensure BT maintains compliance.
• Externally recognised expert in all the regulatory spectrum and safety aspects of radio technologies
• Ability to work with Ofcom on both a technical and legal basis
• Leading a matrix (virtual) team of technical experts to deliver network design solutions and provide technical thought leadership to a larger matrix team. The sphere of influence for the matrix team will be from a technical perspective.

Experience you would be expected to have
• BSc in an Engineering discipline (Physics or Electrical/Electronics Engineering).
• Experience in design, build and configuration of point-to-point microwave links (3+ years)
• Successful delivery of a range of small to large programmes would be desirable
• Ability to collate and analyse data and translate into Reporting insights
• Working with senior stakeholder managing conflicts in delivering enablement solutions in a timely manner at optimum cost.
• Working with internal and external partners to deliver to quality and on time expectation.
• Experience and proficient in Microsoft office packages
• Implemented change initiatives, ability to adapt quickly and deliver change effectively.
• Systems experience including JIRA & Ariba.
