Job Summary
South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS) is looking to recruit 2 Non‑Executive Directors to replace current postholders. The positions will begin in July of this year, and we seek expertise in financial skills and organisational development/transformation.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership to SCAS while operating within a Unitary board structure.
* Support the development of a Group Model with the Joint Chair and Joint Chief Executive Officer to ensure consistent and efficient service delivery across the South East Region.
* Collaborate with the boards of SCAS and South East Coast Ambulance Services to drive collaboration forward and maintain focus on delivering quality care to the population.
* Ensure financial stewardship and deliver best value to the taxpayer.
* Constructively challenge the executive team in a pressurised, fast‑paced environment without becoming involved in operational issues.
Person Specification – Knowledge & Experience
* Combination of knowledge and experience in Clinical, Operations, Governance and Digital Technology.
* Strong strategic thinking and political astuteness.
* High degree of personal integrity, aligned with SCAS and NHS values.
* Ability to bring diverse perspectives and experience to the board.

Corporate Induction
New starters must attend a one‑and‑a‑half‑day induction in person. Locations include Newbury (Berkshire), Bicester (Oxfordshire) or Whiteley (Hampshire). Additional training may be required after induction depending on the role.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Application of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 requires a Disclosure and Barring Service submission to check for any previous criminal convictions.
