Overview
We are searching for an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to provide critical technical and operational support to the Project Manager throughout the full lifecycle of schemes with a focus on civil engineering — from Initial Concept and Feasibility through to Commissioning and Final Handover. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will ensure the seamless delivery of infrastructure projects, maintaining momentum from the pre‑construction phase to site completion.
Main responsibilities
* Perform administrative tasks such as preparing estimates and invoices and tracking the project’s progress using specific software and technical experts.
* Report to the Project Manager on the project’s progress through the project lifecycle.
* Support team members by researching project information.
* Update and report on the project’s schedule, budget, and spending.
* Collaborate with stakeholders about their needs and goals for the project.
* Support the Check and Review of project scopes to ensure required outputs and quality standards.
* Provide input into the coordination of technical solutions and support on complex capital projects, including Scope Documents, Works & Site Information, Design Drawings, Programmes, CDM Documents and compilation of job packs to required deadlines.
* Liaise with internal stakeholders and external 3rd parties to seek approvals and facilitate projects.
* Undertake site visits/audits and conduct project meetings.
* Work closely with Project Managers regarding delivery dates, programme and cost analysis.
* Liaise with third parties to ensure they have the correct information.
* Maintain thorough documentation of project activities.
* Regularly review and update processes and procedures.
Skills / Qualifications / Experience
* HNC, HND or degree in civil engineering.
* Chartered or working towards Chartership.
* Experience in a water distribution environment or similar industrial background.
* Experience of project management software and common data environments.
* Demonstrate and implement sound engineering judgement.
* Strong understanding of CDM 2015 and how it is applied to projects.
* Excellent communication and time management skills.
* Strong awareness and understanding of industry standards and specifications.
* Strong understanding of the various NEC contracts and their application.
