If you’re looking for a role where you can quietly punch in numbers all day with zero input on the bigger picture—this probably isn’t it.
We’re working with a civil contractor in the Northeast who’s doing real work—sitework, infrastructure, heavy civil. They need an Estimator who’s not afraid to roll up their sleeves and own their scope. Someone who can price the job properly, but also contribute to the strategy, the planning, and the conversations that win work.
You won’t be stuck behind a screen guessing numbers. You’ll be talking to subs, sitting in on pre-bid meetings, and helping put together real, competitive proposals. And when the job hits the ground, what you built on paper will matter.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing:
* Reading and breaking down plans like a builder—not just a box-checker.
* Estimating all civil scopes: sitework, excavation, utilities, grading—you know the drill.
* Working the phones with subcontractors, qualifying them, and keeping pricing competitive.
* Helping prep subcontracts and POs post-award.
* Supporting pre-bid schedules, and weighing in on logistics, QC, and safety.
* Pulling together pricing for both hard bids and negotiated work.
* Coordinating with CAD/Drafters and engineers when needed—this is a team sport.
* Reviewing technical specs and bid documents so nothing slips through the cracks.
* Basically: being part of the full precon effort, not just “doing takeoffs.”
What They’re Looking For:
* Around 3 years of estimating experience, ideally with a civil GC or site subcontractor.
* Civil Engineering degree is preferred—but if you’ve done the job, that counts.
* Comfortable navigating drawings, specs, and proposals.
* Good communicator—you’ll be in touch with subs, vendors, and internal teams.
* Bonus if you’ve helped put together full bids or budgets, not just pieces.
Why Take the Call?
* Solid company, growing pipeline, steady backlog.
* You’ll learn from seasoned folks who’ve been doing this for decades.
* Pay and benefits are strong. So is the team.
* Real projects, real responsibility, and a seat at the table early in your career.
Curious?
No pressure. No résumé sent without your okay. If this sounds close to what you want—even if the timing isn’t perfect—let’s have a proper conversation.
