The Opportunity
Reporting to the Vice President, Supply Chain Services, the Assistant Vice President (AVP), Supply Chain Services provides enterprise leadership across Montefiore’s end-to-end supply chain. The AVP oversees all core functions—including Strategic Sourcing, Procure-to-Pay, Materials Management, ERP and supply chain systems, Data & Analytics, and Project Design & Enablement—ensuring reliable operations, strong financial stewardship, and continuous improvement.
This role leads high-impact initiatives and coordinates complex, cross-functional programs focused on savings, efficiency, automation, and process redesign. The AVP partners with executive, clinical, and operational leadership across the Health System to define future-state operations, enable technology, and embed continuous improvement as a way of working.
Key Responsibilities
* Enterprise Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations across all supply chain functions, including Strategic Sourcing, Procure-to-Pay, Accounts Payable, Materials Management, ERP and supply chain systems, Data & Analytics, Project Design & Enablement, budgeting, and HR.
* Drive performance through KPIs, process monitoring, and timely reporting to leadership.
* Ensure departmental adherence to SOPs, protocols, and project documentation.
* Transformation, Savings & Strategic Execution: Lead high-impact initiatives focused on savings, efficiency, automation, and process redesign.
* Analyze business needs, assess feasibility, develop requirements, and implement solutions across enterprise supply chain functions.
* Coordinate and manage multiple cross-functional projects concurrently, ensuring governance, measurement, and sustained outcomes.
* Stakeholder Partnership: Serve as a trusted partner to executive, clinical, and operational leaders, facilitating collaboration and removing barriers to success.
* Develop and execute communication strategies for initiatives, ensuring clear visibility and alignment across the system.
* People Leadership: Lead senior directors and indirectly manage a large, diverse workforce, including unionized teams.
* Foster a positive, collaborative, and customer-focused culture anchored in accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
* Qualifications And Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
* 10+ years of progressive management experience in healthcare supply chain operations, with exposure across multiple supply chain areas.
* Demonstrated experience overseeing large teams and complex operations, ideally within an academic medical center or integrated delivery network.
* Knowledgeable in: Healthcare Supply Chain Management functions; Vendor Management, Talent Management, Contracting, Project Management, Healthcare standards; ERP, Contracting Software, Inventory Systems; Healthcare Indirect and non-clinical spend categories; and Accounting principles, cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, market and supplier research and analysis
* Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and enterprise supply chain systems.
