Long Term Futures are working with a specialist SEMH school in Nottingham (NG1) seeking a dedicated Class Teacher to join their team. The school supports pupils aged 11-16 with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing personalised education and pastoral support to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes. We are looking for a positive person to play a key role in making a meaningful difference to the lives of young people with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons, including a specialist subject alongside Citizenship, tailored to students with SEMH needs across KS3 and KS4
Build positive, trusting relationships to support behaviour, emotional regulation, and re-engagement in learning
Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with the school's SEMH approach
Adapt curriculum content to meet individual needs, including EHCP targets, and track student progress
Work collaboratively with pastoral teams, SENCOs, and external agencies to provide holistic support
Create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that promotes wellbeing, inclusion, and personal developmentWhat We're Looking For
A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred or equivalent teaching qualification.
Experience working with pupils with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs is highly desirable.
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that support both academic progress and personal development.
Resilient, patient, and adaptable, with a commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
