Job Summary
Deputy Clinical Site Matron (Band 7) – permanent position in the patient flow team. The role covers the 7‑day shift pattern, including day and night coverage where required.

Responsibilities
* Support the Clinical Site Matron in all aspects of daily clinical site management.
* Directly manage bed managers, patient flow team administration and the travel team.
* Provide clinical and managerial leadership to ensure a safe environment, optimum patient care and exceptional quality standards.
* Ensure correct escalation processes, including adherence to Emergency Department internal professional standards.
* Support the Acute Response Team in managing clinically at‑risk and emergency situations, ensuring appropriate attendance and operational oversight of patient admission or discharge.
* Support clinical site matrons by giving clinical advice and guidance to staff and by receiving and coordinating verbal and electronic calls using established protocols and IT systems.
* Perform bed management for each division, providing bed positions and updates.
* Assume responsibility for site coverage and maintain appropriate communication with the Senior Manager or Director on call during out‑of‑hours periods.
* Escalate and manage mental health patients across the trust.
* Maintain working knowledge of trust policy and ensure compliance.
* Manage staff sickness, performance and professionalism in line with policy.
* Manage use of physical resources in consultation with the team, medical staff and managers to deliver a cost‑effective service.
* Maintain and develop personal competence and expertise, acting as a role model and complying with NMC statutory regulations at all times.
* Lead bed meetings when the Clinical Site Matron and CHPF are not available.
* Assist in identifying and implementing contingency plans, resolving capacity issues and exercising sound judgement regarding patient placement under extreme capacity pressure.
