They are seeking a proactive, adaptable, and highly organized Operations Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. This pivotal role touches every part of the business, from HR and finance to facilities and IT, and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Your new role
You will be involved in the day-to-day operations, liaising with colleagues from lab scientists to C-suite leaders and external vendors. The role is based in Newcastle upon Tyne, with the potential for 1 day/week working from home. Major responsibilities include:
* Ensuring smooth daily operations of the office and facilities.
* Serving as the first point of contact for HR-related queries and supporting policy development and employee relations.
* Supporting payroll, vendor payments, and invoicing processes.
* Managing relationships with service providers and facilities teams.
* Overseeing office management tasks such as supplies and space planning.
* Supporting onboarding and offboarding, including IT setup and troubleshooting.
* Collaborating with the executive team on strategic initiatives.
* Driving operational projects with initiative and attention to detail.
* Improving internal processes to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
* Ensuring compliance with policies across HR, finance, and facilities.
For more senior candidates, there is an alternative 9-month contract role at the Operations Lead/Director level in London, offering a generous package.
What you'll need to succeed
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. Other requirements include:
* Proven experience in operations, office management, or HR-focused roles, preferably in startups or SMEs.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks and switch between functions easily.
* Understanding of HR practices and processes (CIPD not required).
* Basic IT literacy and confidence in handling common tech issues.
* Highly organized with excellent time management.
* Self-starter with ownership mindset.
