Electrical Assembly Technician Location: Portsmouth (Onsite) Salary: £30,000–£35,000 Type: Temp to Perm A specialist maritime technology organisation is seeking a hands-on Electrical Assembly Technician to support the build and assembly of advanced navigation and control systems. This role is ideal for an experienced wireperson or panel technician who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and process consistency. The Role You will be responsible for the electrical assembly of control panels, racks, and enclosures, working from detailed cable plans and technical drawings. The role also includes contributing to manufacturing documentation and helping improve build standards to ensure quality and repeatability. Key Responsibilities * Assemble wiring systems, racks, and enclosures from electrical schematics and layout drawings * Carry out crimping, soldering, cable routing, and termination * Interpret cable plans, BOMs, and technical documentation * Perform electrical testing and fault-finding on completed assemblies * Create and update build instructions and quality documentation * Support continuous improvement initiatives within production * Collaborate with engineering to optimise build efficiency and quality Requirements * Level 3 qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline * Practical experience in electrical assembly, panel wiring, or cable assembly * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams * Strong attention to detail and methodical working approach * Ability to work independently and as part of a team Desirable * HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering * IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification * Experience producing work instructions or process documentation * Familiarity with Lean or 5S principles What’s on Offer * £30k–£35k salary * Temp-to-perm opportunity * Pension scheme and private medical insurance * 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays * Flexible working options including nine-day fortnight * Opportunity to work on advanced maritime technology systems
