We’re looking for an experienced and inspiring General Manager to lead the team at The Groucho Club. This is a pivotal role at an exciting time in the club’s evolution, as we enter a new era of growth and transformation. As General Manager, you’ll be responsible for delivering exceptional operational leadership across all departments – from F&B and events to service, member experience and people development.
You’ll be hands-on, passionate about hospitality, and a natural leader who knows how to get the best from their team. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of what makes a private members' club unique, as well as commercial and strategic acumen to help shape the next chapter of The Groucho Club. This role reports directly into the Managing Director.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead the day-to-day operations of the club, ensuring an outstanding member and guest experience across all areas.
* Inspire, manage and develop Heads of Department and their teams, creating a collaborative and high-performance culture.
* Maintain consistent service standards through strong leadership and hands-on presence across F&B, front of house and back of house operations.
* Be a key brand ambassador and ensure the ethos, character and personality of The Groucho Club is reflected in every detail.
* Monitor and manage budgets, forecasting and financial performance, ensuring profitability and cost control.
* Oversee recruitment, training, performance and development of the team, supporting succession planning and growth.
* Ensure all operations comply with health, safety and licensing legislation.
* Work closely with the Exec team to deliver strategic goals and support the club’s rebrand and evolution.
What Makes You a Great Fit
* Proven experience in a senior leadership role in hospitality – ideally within private members’ clubs, luxury hotels or lifestyle venues.
* Confident and people-focused leader with the ability to inspire and influence teams at all levels.
* Commercially aware, with strong financial acumen and an understanding of P&L, cost control and driving revenue.
* Calm under pressure with excellent decision-making, communication and organisational skills.
* Deep appreciation for the balance of heritage and innovation – preserving the soul of a space while driving it forward.
* An instinct for exceptional service and detail.
* A passion for hospitality and a genuine interest in the creative industries, arts, and culture.
