Position Overview
Thales is seeking a Financial Reporting Controller for our Under Water Systems (UWS) business. The role reports to the UWS Finance Director and is responsible for the production of monthly management accounts, BOR and Magnitude reporting, balance‑sheet reconciliations and data, MYB, SBP and other financial forecasts, as well as liaising with external and internal auditors and supporting UWS business improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, report and review monthly reporting in collaboration with the Finance Director.
* Prepare and report on B&P and SFRD spend (monthly actuals, MYB and forecasts).
* Produce P&L, balance‑sheet and group templates using Oracle B1, TM1 and Magnitude.
* Review and prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations, escalating where required.
* Provide accurate, timely and reliable financial information with supporting analysis and commentary.
* Support the development and maintenance of effective mechanisms for MYB review and financial forecast production.
* Ensure ICQ is completed and maintained / interface to TBSS where appropriate.
* Escalate risks and opportunities to the appropriate management level.
* Champion the transformation of the finance function through group finance initiatives.
Qualifications
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or ACMA) or equivalent experience.
* Significant experience in reporting, control environment, accounting rules and procedures.
* Experience working within a changing environment within complex, multi‑site or multi‑entity organisations.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with finance and non‑finance professionals.
* Ability to deliver at pace, focus on the bigger picture and drive improvements to operations and efficiency.

Security Clearance Requirement
Applicants must be UK nationals and achieve a Security Clearance (SC) without caveats. The clearance should ideally be held beforehand; otherwise, the successful candidate must obtain and maintain SC clearance prior to commencing employment. Dual nationals from non‑ITAR countries may be considered if approved by the MOD. UK residency of at least five years is normally required; in some circumstances a minimum of three years over the last five years may be accepted with additional checks.
