If you are passionate about providing high-quality care and want to lead midwifery care within the framework of the national agenda, we welcome your talents and skills.

We are seeking a senior, dynamic midwife to join as a Matron for Maternity Services. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical leadership and excellent communication and networking skills.

You should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and committed to continuous improvement in maternity safety and experience. You will be responsible for providing cost-effective clinical services within midwifery and working collaboratively within the division.

The role includes providing clinical and professional midwifery leadership and accountability for:

* Central Delivery Suite
* Maternity Triage

We welcome informal chats prior to applying, please get in touch!

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead the development of efficient, effective, and patient-focused services for women and children in the division. Through strong clinical leadership, the Matron will support teams to promote excellence in nursing and midwifery care, maintaining and improving standards. The role emphasizes compassion, dignity, respect, and valuing diversity. Partnership working and patient experience are priorities, achieved through high visibility, effective communication, accessibility, and surveillance. The post holder will operate in accordance with NMC and Trust policies, acting professionally and with integrity, serving as a role model and promoting equal opportunities.

Our Trust Values of Kindness, Wellness, and Fairness guide our behaviors and are embedded in our appraisal and recruitment processes.

The role also involves participating in the Senior Manager On Call Rota.

Working for our organisation

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King's Lynn is located near scenic areas in the UK, along the north Norfolk coast, close to Sandringham House.

We provide a wide range of specialist, acute, obstetrics, and community healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, including parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire, and South Lincolnshire.

With over 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances, we collaborate with neighboring hospitals for tertiary services, including regional networks such as the trauma network.

In February 2022, the Care Quality Commission rated us as ‘Good’ in all inspected services, moving us out of the recovery support system.
