Job Title: Head of Supply Chain
Location: Abercynon, South Wales. This role is a Site Leadership position reporting to the General Manager and focuses on developing strategic supply chain plans and overseeing daily operations in purchasing, planning and goods movement.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Supply Chain Optimisation
* Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives, ensuring efficiency and cost‑effectiveness.
* Lead end‑to‑end supply chain planning, balancing demand with production and optimising inventory levels.
* Hold accountability for inventory planning and delivery of the plan.
* Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain performance and reduce lead times.
Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP)
* Oversee the SIOP process to align demand with production capacity, inventory management, and procurement.
* Collaborate cross‑functionally with sales, finance and operations to ensure optimal supply‑demand balance.
* Analyse market trends, customer demand and supply constraints to drive data‑driven decision‑making.
Master Scheduling & Production Planning
* Develop and maintain a robust master production schedule that optimises capacity, labour and materials.
* Coordinate with Operations to develop capacity scenarios.
* Work closely with manufacturing to ensure smooth production flow while minimising bottlenecks.
* Monitor schedule adherence and adjust production plans proactively in response to demand and supply‑chain fluctuations.
Inventory and Stores
* Oversee inventory policies, ensuring optimal stock levels to meet production needs while minimising excess.
* Implement best practices for warehouse and material handling to improve accuracy, efficiency and traceability.
* Drive inventory accuracy through cycle counting, audits and process improvements.
Supplier and Stakeholder Collaboration
* Manage relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely material availability and mitigate supply‑chain risks.
* Work closely with procurement teams to enhance supplier performance, cost savings and contract negotiations.
* Ensure alignment between supply‑chain, engineering and quality teams for component lifecycle management.
People Management
* Ensure adherence to company codes of conduct, time‑keeping and disciplines.
* Define and track key performance indicators such as On‑Time In‑Full (OTIF), inventory turns and schedule adherence.
* Ensure compliance with industry regulations, quality standards and company policies.
* Lead and mentor supply‑chain teams, fostering a high‑performance culture focused on operational excellence.
* Work with the global group teams in support of company strategies and initiatives at the site.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
* Experience managing a busy supply‑chain function, dealing with customers and suppliers at all levels.
* Able to understand and meet the needs of customers, both internal and external.
* A data‑focused, logical decision‑making approach, applying business insights and opportunities in a structured manner.
* Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of cost reduction.
* An inspirational and motivational leader, able to navigate, manage and, where appropriate, effect change.
* Able to communicate ideas to others clearly, with a confident and open demeanour, respecting other points of view.
* A strategic thinker with an innovative approach to problem‑solving.
