Main duties of the job
Provide highly specialist psychological assessment of patients with highly complex conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources, which may include neuropsychological testing.
Undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual patients and provide specialist advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
Formulate plans for highly specialist psychological therapy and/or management of patients’ mental health conditions based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence‑based practice. Negotiate the implementation of such plans with patients and/or their carers.

We work across all services within the Division, including Community, In‑Patient and Memory Assessment services across the 4 Black Country areas of Wolverhampton, Sandwell, Walsall and Dudley.
We are a core part of multi‑disciplinary teams, providing supervision, training and reflective practice, in addition to individual and group work with clients.
We focus on person‑centred, compassionate care and strive to improve the quality of care through quality improvement projects and service redesign.
Job responsibilities
Accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of highly specialist psychological care to older people under the care of the Hospital at Home Team (HaHT) with highly complex mental health or dementia, which may include challenging behaviours. Be compassionate in meeting the needs of patients, their carers and families. Promote at all times a positive image of older people with mental health difficulties or dementia, as well as the service and the wider Trust.
Exercise supervisory and professional responsibility for other psychological therapists. Provide leadership in multi‑disciplinary training and development, service audit, development, evaluation and research. Ensure that a psychological perspective is brought to service redesign and cultural change.
Person Specification
* HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist
* Experience of working with older adults
* Doctorate‑level training in applied psychology (or its equivalent) accredited by the BPS
