About the Role
AK Recruitment is seeking caring, reliable and patient individuals to join us as Passenger Assistants, supporting vulnerable children on their journeys to and from school. As a Passenger Assistant, you will work alongside drivers to ensure that childrens safety, comfort, and wellbeing are always maintained during transport.
Key Responsibilities
Assist children boarding and alighting vehicles safely.
Support children during transit, helping them feel calm, comfortable, and safe.
Secure wheelchairs / use of specialist equipment where needed.
Fasten seatbelts or restraints, ensure seats are safe.
Monitor welfare of the children, report any concerns to your supervisor.
Liaise courteously with parents/carers, school staff as needed.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised environment in the vehicle.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
Enhanced DBS check clearance.
Experience working with children / vulnerable people (desirable but not always necessary
training can be provided).
Patience, empathy, reliability.
Good communication skills.
Physically able to assist children, including those with mobility needs (e.g. lifting, bending, operating wheelchair equipment).
Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Criteria:
Training in Passenger Assistant roles or PATS.
First Aid certification.
Experience in special educational needs (SEN) settings.
Terms & Conditions
Hours: Term-time, morning & afternoon shifts (exact times depend on school routes).
Salary: Competitive hourly rate (please contact for details).
Contract: Part-time / Term-time. Flexible days.
Start Date: As soon as possible.
