Senior Credit Risk Strategy Analyst
Our client is seeking a Lead Credit Risk Analyst to join their growing team in Birmingham.
Responsibilities
* Develop, maintain and improve credit risk strategies to enable high‑quality customer decisions driven by data.
* Provide analyses to run credit portfolios against agreed performance indicators.
* Support business growth through delivery of WPB initiatives, analytics to enable design and roll‑out of new lending products, enhance existing product features and manage exposure of existing customers.
* Lead complex analytical projects to completion with minimal guidance.
* Formulate and clearly communicate conclusions and proposals considering risk, reward and customer impact; collaborate with teams to make decisions.
* Identify solutions to emerging risk issues, changing priorities and project completion issues.
* Challenge established policies and procedures where appropriate and suggest improvements.
* Ensure portfolio strategies and processes are aligned with applicable regulations and regulator guidance.
* Build strong relationships and engage with the wider organisation to provide insight and support for changes to improve customer outcomes.
* Build relationships with and contribute to the development of junior team members and offshore analysts.
* Report progress on initiatives to Senior Management/governance forums on a regular basis.
* Maintain high standards of documentation.
Requirements
* Experience in a relevant role (e.g., Credit Risk Analytics, Collections Analytics or an analytics-based role) with experience of secured or unsecured products.
* Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities using software such as SAS, SQL, VBA, or Python to analyse large data sets, draw conclusions and drive actions.
* Understanding of consumer lending products, profitability and credit risk.
* Experience of successful project management and cross‑team delivery.
* Collaborative working style and clear communication.
* Knowledge of FCA regulations and their application in a consumer lending environment.
* Degree/qualification in an analytical or numerical field or equivalent.
