Materials Buyer – Commercial Construction

Key focus of the Role:
Supporting the delivery of live commercial construction projects through the accurate, competitive and timely procurement of materials, plant and sundries. The role involves working closely with Site Managers to ensure materials are ordered correctly, quantities and specifications are sense-checked, and deliveries are coordinated to meet programme requirements.
Previous experience:
Previous buying or procurement experience within commercial construction is essential.
A strong working knowledge of construction materials and site requirements is required.
Other responsibilities include:
Procurement of materials, plant and sundries for live commercial construction projects.
Working closely with Site Managers to sense-check quantities and specifications prior to placing orders.
Obtaining and comparing supplier quotations to secure best value.
Placing and managing purchase orders, ensuring correct delivery times and locations.
Checking invoices against delivery notes and resolving any discrepancies.
Managing supplier relationships and addressing any delivery or supply issues.
Person Specification:
Commercially aware with confidence to challenge quantities and pricing.
Highly organised and methodical, with strong attention to detail.
Comfortable working within a fast-paced, site-driven environment.
Able to communicate effectively with Site Managers, suppliers and the wider project team.
Full UK driving licence and own transport required.
