The Market Bosworth School is seeking to appoint an inspirational Teacher to join our experienced Maths team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the success of the school and will be integral to our future development.
The Market Bosworth School is very proud of its students and staff. We have excellent academic standards and work hard to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all. We have been consistently rated as an “Outstanding” school by Ofsted, in 2009, 2012, 2018 and most recently 2024.
For the last year of published results, 90% of our year 11 students achieved GCSE Maths passes at grade 4 and above. The school achieved an overall progress score of +0.84, the highest in Leicestershire. Our provisional GCSE outcomes for 2025 are even stronger. We are proud to be a single academy trust.
The successful candidate will be a key part of our team that take the development of the Maths department to its next level, building on its high profile and consistent success within the school.
Our Maths department includes:
1. A new purpose build maths block with specialist classrooms.
2. A large well equipped department office / work room.
3. PCs, visualisers and interactive screens in each classroom.
4. A class set of department chrome books.
5. 7 fully qualified specialist maths teachers.
The intent of our maths curriculum is to establish a clear foundation of all key areas within Number, Algebra, Geometry, Probability, Statistics and Ratio/Proportion at KS3 to allow for further development of these skills at KS4.
The emphasis is to ensure students are proficient in the skills developed throughout KS2, supported or extended where applicable and linking prior learning into the KS3 curriculum. Numeracy and mental arithmetic skill are embedded in our framework and also in the form of weekly differentiated assessing, with a follow-up support and enrichment activity where applicable. Problem solving has more emphasis in the KS3 curriculum, with exposure to wordier questions in lessons and assessments, allowing for interlinking between multiple topics and better preparing for KS4.
All students in KS3 are taught seven lessons of Maths over a two-week period, which will then increase to nine periods in KS4. In both Year 10 and Year 11 a small group of students will also have five additional Maths sessions to support them with the course.
Students who complete additional Maths lessons will have been identified by their teachers in Year 9 and following discussions with parents are offered the opportunity in place of French/Enterprise and Marketing when they go through the options process in the summer term. We currently follow the AQA exam board at GCSE level.
This would be an excellent opportunity for somebody who wishes to work within a supportive and talented team, where they will be given the opportunity to actively contribute to the on-going development of the department at an exciting and challenging time for maths and the wider school community.
Safeguarding Statement
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers are expected to behave in such a way that supports this commitment. The recruitment process is robust in seeking to establish the commitment of candidates to support the school’s measures to safeguard children and to identify, deter or reject people who might pose a risk of harm to children or are otherwise unsuited to work with them. As this post is required to work in “Regulated Activity” an enhanced DBS with a Barred list check is essential. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children (KCSIE 2025). Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. All applications will be considered on their merit and the post will be offered subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including online media checks.
