Job Description:
RINA’s Maritime Safety Consulting division is seeking an experienced Safety Engineering Consultant to join a specialized team working for Defence clients across naval platforms including surface ships, carriers, submarines, and unmanned vessels. This role offers an opportunity to develop RINA’s Safety and ISA capabilities, providing world-class safety advisory services to the Royal Navy.
The position can be based in Southampton, Chippenham, Leatherhead, or Lincoln, with RINA supporting hybrid working arrangements. Moderate travel across the UK is expected.
The role
* Lead various Safety Engineering projects, ensuring timely, budget-conscious, and quality deliverables.
* Manage projects individually or lead small teams.
* Support bids, proposals, analysis, and report writing.
* Promote RINA’s Safety capabilities through client engagement, relationship building, and presentations.
* Assist in augmenting safety capabilities to meet market demands.
* This is not a Health & Safety (HSE) role.
Qualifications & experience
* Minimum ten years’ experience in safety engineering management in high hazard environments.
* Knowledge of UK MOD maritime platforms.
* Experience with Hazard & Safety Risk Analysis, Safety Assurance, and developing safety cases.
* Proficiency with Safety Engineering tools such as Reliability Workbench, ASCE, BowTie, ETA, and FTA.
* Familiarity with Defence Standards like 00-56 and regulations including DSA02-DMR.
* Understanding of UK MOD frameworks like Aurora.
* Knowledge of ASEMS, POSMS, and POEMS processes.
* Engineering background required.
* UK Security Clearance or British citizenship with vetting willingness preferred.
