Job Title: WTG Principal Engineer
Scope
* Business Line: Positioned within the Offshore Wind business line, specifically reporting to the Floating ILA Engineering Manager.
* Core Focus: Responsible for all activities related to turbine design and interfacing with turbine Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in offshore wind.
* Working Model: A full-time contractor role (outside IR35) featuring a hybrid working model with flexible hours.
* Location: Based in Kingston upon Thames, UK. Applicants must possess permanent UK right-to-work status.
Key Responsibilities
* Aeroelastic Modeling: Building and verifying aeroelastic models of the turbine and supporting the turbine tower design.
* Controller Management: Managing the development, tuning, and verification checks of the turbine controller.
* Technical Analysis: Providing advanced, non-conventional structural analyses and numerical simulations for the Offshore Wind business unit.
* Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinating with external contractors regarding turbine models and participating in technical meetings with clients.
* Reporting & Monitoring: Monitoring and verifying the ILA (Integrated Load Analysis) and writing high-quality industry-standard technical reports.
Qualifications
* Education: Chartered Engineer status is required; an Aeronautical degree is preferred.
* Experience: 10–15 years of design experience in offshore wind, covering both floating and fixed wind substructures.
* Technical Expertise:
o In-depth knowledge of turbine design (WTG) and industry codes/standards (including DNV and IEC).
o Proficiency in specialized engineering software such as OrcaFlex, Bladed, and Fast.
* IT Skills: Strong proficiency in MS365.
