We’re supporting our client, a well-established and forward-thinking manufacturer, in their search for a Production Manager to lead and drive performance. This is a critical leadership role, responsible for managing a production team, optimising output, and driving continuous improvement across various departments. While technical knowledge of extrusion is welcomed, it is not essential, as the site boasts a highly capable technical team. The focus here is people leadership, operational performance, and cross-functional coordination. As Production Manager your Key Responsibilities will be: * Manage daily operations across production areas, ensuring performance targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules are met. * Upskill and develop production staff through enhanced training plans, skills matrices, and structured progression paths. * Monitor and analyse production data to improve throughput, reduce waste, and enhance overall plant efficiency. * Ensure all production records, paperwork, and digital tracking (e.g., MES systems) are accurately completed and maintained. * Drive strict adherence to Health & Safety policies, performing regular audits and always ensuring safe working practices. * Build strong internal and external relationships, liaising with departments such as transport, maintenance, and planning to support operational success. * Lead the team through procedural adherence, ensuring SOPs and work instructions are followed and continuously improved. * Support and lead continuous improvement activities and lean initiatives across production cells. * Conduct regular performance reviews, RTWs, and development appraisals for all team members. * Take ownership of key production decisions relating to workflow, resource planning, and schedule adherence. * Maintain high standards of housekeeping and operational discipline across all areas. Candidate Requirements for the role of Production Manager: Experience & Qualifications: * A minimum of 4 years' experience in a leadership role within a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment. * ILM Level 3 or equivalent management qualification (desirable). * Demonstrable experience in people development, coaching, and team performance management. * Proven record of managing change, driving culture, and leading by example. * Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and lean manufacturing principles. * IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification preferred. * Strong IT skills – proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Desirable: * Any prior exposure to extrusion, plastics, or process-based manufacturing is advantageous but not required
