NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is the largest healthcare provider in Scotland, serving a population of approximately 1.3 million through acute, mental health and community care services. The Board also provides cross‑border and regional services.
The Information Governance Manager / Deputy Data Protection Officer will lead the Information Governance team and ensure the Board meets its legal obligations under the Data Protection Act 2018, the UK GDPR, Caldicott Principles, Access to Health Records Act 1990 and the Public Records (Scotland) Act 2011.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Information Governance team, reducing the risk of non‑compliance across the Board.
* Advise the NHS Board and partner agencies, including Police and Local Authorities, on all aspects of information governance.
* Prepare and review Data Protection Impact Assessments and Information Sharing Agreements.
* Apply data protection principles to research, innovation projects and wider data processing activities.
* Act as Deputy Data Protection Officer, representing the Board on governance matters.
* Interpret and communicate complex legislation and litigation relating to information governance.
* Manage and develop a team of information governance staff to support the Board’s requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree level education or equivalent.
* Significant experience in data protection and information governance, ideally within the NHS.
* Detailed knowledge of the Data Protection Legislation and Caldicott Principles.
* Strong management, organisational, and people‑skills.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
* Self‑starter ability to work agilely and manage change in a patient‑centred environment.
