About the role:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Technician to join our team at Bracknell Sewage Treatment Works, RG42 5NE.
The successful candidate will ensure all equipment at our sewage treatment works operates safely and efficiently through proactive and reactive maintenance. Responsibilities include inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosing, testing, installing, modifying, or repairing electrical and mechanical plant equipment.
Within the maintenance team, you will follow robust planned maintenance, participate in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding, and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure continuous plant operation.
What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical & Electrical Technician
1. Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment following company procedures to minimize breakdowns.
2. Investigate plant failures and perform repairs efficiently to prevent process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults.
3. Provide technical advice, referencing up-to-date knowledge, and support or train technical trainees if needed.
4. Work on equipment such as pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, electronic control systems like VSDs, valves, measurement devices, PLCs, and chemical handling equipment.
5. Participate in standby rota following relevant training.
Base Location: Bracknell STW - RG42 5NE
Working Pattern: 38 hours, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby & overtime opportunities potentially increasing earnings by £8,000-£10,000.
All PPE and tools are provided.
What you should bring to the role
* Time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems in a multi-skilled capacity.
* Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G Level 3 in mechanical engineering, with additional mechanical qualifications preferred.
* Willingness to develop dual-skilled capabilities if only experienced in one discipline.
* Knowledge of health and safety standards is crucial.
* Physical fitness for working in confined spaces, with training provided.
* A valid driving license, with tools and vehicle provided.
