Job Description Technical QA Manager Role Overview: Position: Technical QA Manager Salary: up to £55k p/a Industry: MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) in high-rise residential, student, and BTR (Build to Rent) projects Location: Site-based with frequent lodging away Contract: Permanent Reports to: Divisional Director Key Responsibilities: Supervision & Coordination: Oversee on-site MEP teams (in-house & subcontractors). Act as the main liaison between site teams, office, and clients. Ensure contract deliverables and milestones are met. Monitor project progress, flag issues, and ensure compliance. Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure installations meet British/European standards. Focus on key risk areas : regulatory compliance, fire safety, and water safety. Conduct site quality inspections, audits, and documentation. Team Leadership & Training: Motivate and manage site personnel to maintain high standards. Ensure teams are properly trained in MEP installation and QA processes. Maintain a strong health & safety culture. Problem-Solving & Aftersales Support: Troubleshoot mechanical faults and oversee defect resolution. Respond to reactive call-outs and oversee maintenance/repair works. Project Documentation & Reporting: Keep detailed records of site activities and QA reports. Attend progress meetings and contribute to project updates. Ensure handover documentation is complete and accurate. Essential Skills & Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of MEP on-site supervision in high-rise residential/student/BTR projects. City & Guilds qualified Engineer with NVQ3 (or equivalent). Experience in team leadership, planning, and subcontractor management. Hands-on knowledge of mechanical installations, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of MEP failure points and risk mitigation. Proficiency in MS Office, Fieldview, Aconex (customer portals). Experience with ISO-9001/45001/14001 quality management. Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel & stay away from home. Desirable Skills: SSSTS or SMSTS certification (CITB). Additional safety certifications: PASMA, MEWP, First Aid, Asbestos Awareness. Knowledge of Procore software.
