Synthetic Training Operator

We're looking for a Synthetic Training Operator to support the delivery of high‑fidelity maritime warfare training using advanced simulation and classroom‑based systems.
This is a hands‑on support role, working behind the scenes to ensure training environments are realistic, immersive, and effective for Royal Navy personnel.
What you'll be doing
Operating and supporting synthetic training and simulation systems used for RN warfare training
Working in control rooms and simulator classrooms, supporting instructors and trainees
Helping configure and run realistic maritime warfare scenarios, providing cues, prompts and stimuli
Supporting training delivery across simulator, classroom and electronic training environments
Preparing and reconfiguring systems, supporting administration and data collection
Advising and assisting instructors and students in the use of training systems
Working as part of a close‑knit, supportive team with a strong focus on quality and professionalism
Who we're looking for
We're very open on background and experience. This role would suit:
Royal Navy leavers (recent or historic)
Personnel with experience in:
Operations Rooms
Warfare / Sensors / Radar
Command & Control systems
Those who have moved from operations into training or classroom environments
Candidates with strong knowledge in one specialism (you don't need to know everything)
Hands‑on experience does not need to be recent, and full training is provided.
Skills & experience (ideal but not all essential)
General working knowledge of RN surface ship sensors and weapon systems
Familiarity with RN Command Systems (e.g. CMS / DNA2)
Understanding of Operations Room / Action Information Organisation (AIO)
Comfortable working in simulator or technical training environments
Methodical, calm, and supportive approach
