We are working on behalf of a leading UK-based engineering organisation to recruit a Manufacturing Engineer on a 12‑month fixed-term contract. This role will support the introduction of new and technically complex products into manufacture, within a highly regulated and project-driven environment.
This position offers a broad scope across Manufacturing Engineering and New Product Introduction (NPI), working at the interface of design and production. The successful candidate will be involved in supporting new product development activities, while also contributing to the optimisation and improvement of existing manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing, including involvement in early-stage builds, trials, and process development activities
* Develop and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, and production methods
* Contribute to NPI activities, helping to transition products from design through to production
* Identify and help resolve design-for-manufacture (DFM) considerations
* Create and maintain:
o Work instructions and standard operating procedures
o Manufacturing documentation and build records
o Process flows and routing information
* Provide shop floor support, assisting with technical queries, build issues, and non-conformances
* Work closely with Design Engineering to translate concepts into practical manufacturing solutions
* Support process validation, trials, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Analyse production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design, Quality, Supply Chain, and Projects
* Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
About You
* Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline
* Experience within a manufacturing or production engineering environment
* Good understanding of:
o Fabrication, machining, or mechanical assembly processes
o Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles
o Exposure to NPI, product development, or production support activities
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
* A practical, problem-solving approach, with confidence supporting shop floor activities
* Comfortable working in a dynamic project environment, where priorities may evolve
* Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams
* Experience within heavy engineering, fabrication, or complex assemblies
* Familiarity with welding, structural fabrication, or large-scale assemblies
* Exposure to production trials, prototyping, or process validation activities
* Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments
* Experience using CAD or digital manufacturing tools
