The Role
As a National Account Manager, you will take full ownership of a defined portfolio of major UK grocery retailers, overseeing all commercial activity from daily account management to long term strategy and profitable growth.
You’ll be responsible for a selection of the UK’s top grocery retailers, potentially including Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer, and Waitrose. Working closely with both retailer development teams and the business’s internal NPD, innovation, and category specialists, you’ll help bring exciting new concepts to life. This role is fast-paced and heavily innovation-focused, requiring strong commercial judgement, creativity, and the ability to transform insight-led ideas into commercially successful product launches.
You will report directly to the Head of Grocery and be supported by a National Account Executive, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Finance, and Technical to ensure seamless delivery and outstanding customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, manage, and grow a portfolio of major grocery retail accounts
* Lead negotiations, build strategic customer plans, and manage full P&L accountability
* Achieve sales and margin objectives, analysing performance and forecasting accurately
* Drive retailer-focused innovation and support new product development pipelines
* Monitor category trends, competitive activity, and customer requirements
* Provide strong internal leadership to ensure alignment across all business functions
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience as a National Account Manager, Junior NAM, or Account Executive with UK retail exposure
* Background in private-label chilled or frozen food is highly desirable
* Strong experience working alongside internal and external NPD teams
* Excellent commercial, analytical, and negotiation capabilities
* Self-motivated, organised, and confident operating with autonomy
* Relationship-driven, with a long-term approach to customer partnerships
Benefits
* Salary: £50,000 – £55,000

Location
This is a home-based position, with regular customer visits and a requirement to attend the South Wales head office once per week.
