Solution Architect - Contract (Public Sector)
We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect to lead the design and delivery of secure, scalable IT and telecommunications solutions within a Public Sector environment.
Role Details
* Day Rate: £750-£850 per day (Inside IR35, dependent on experience)
* Contract Duration: 6 Months minimum (extensions possible)
* Location: Primarily remote with occasional attendance at a London office (approx. 1 day per week preferred)

Security Clearance
Candidates must
* Be eligible for SC Clearance (minimum 5 years UK residency with no extended absences)
Additional vetting is required for this role and onboarding timelines may be longer than standard processes.
About the Role
This is a hands-on delivery architecture role responsible for leading the design, assurance, and implementation of secure, high-performance IT and network solutions, particularly within telecommunications environments.
You will provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, ensuring architectural integrity, compliance, and value for money across complex programmes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead creation and maintenance of architectural documentation including HLDs, LLDs, and interface specifications.
* Provide technical assurance, governance, and design sign-off across project lifecycles.
* Collaborate with SMEs, project managers, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
* Act as a key technical contact for telecom operators and delivery teams.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory and security frameworks (eg, GDPR, ISO27001, NIST).
* Support integration, testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation.
* Manage technical risks, dependencies, and change throughout delivery.
* Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Required Skills & Experience
* 5-10 years' experience delivering solutions within telecommunications or enterprise environments.
* Strong experience producing and managing HLD/LLD documentation.
* Experience integrating IT platforms with telecom technologies (OSS/BSS, IMS, NAT, CGNAT, IPv4/IPv6).
* Cloud architecture experience across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
* Understanding of software engineering principles and delivery lifecycles.
* Experience working in regulated environments such as government or telecoms.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Technical Knowledge
* Cloud & hybrid infrastructure environments
* Big Data and data governance concepts
* CI/CD tooling (Kubernetes, Docker, GitOps, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog)
* IP networking and address translation technologies
* Security and compliance frameworks
Desirable
* Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related discipline
* Cloud architecture certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP)
* Telecoms or security certifications
