Job Responsibilities
* Exposure to all facets of head & neck surgery and reconstruction, with a focus on the oral cavity and midface.
* Daily involvement in patient care: ward rounds, outpatient clinics, theatre, and teaching/training for other surgical team members.
* Education and training of Oral & Maxillofacial registrars and junior trainees; preparation for a future Consultant position (including supervision of clinical audits).
* Personalised increase in surgical responsibility over the year; attendance at Head & Neck clinic and weekly Head & Neck MDT; contribution to MDT patient preparation and presentation.
* Maintain an operative log and provide other evidence (e.g., patient feedback, reflective practice).
* On-call responsibilities on a 1:8 rota for out-of-hours monitoring and management of complex free-flap reconstructions.
Who You Are (Person Specification)
Essential
* Primary dental qualification registerable with GDC
* Primary medical qualification registerable with GMC
* FDSRCS or equivalent
* MRCS or equivalent
* FRCS OFMS (or equivalent)
* Evidence of higher surgical training qualification (e.g., CCT for UK Trainees)
Knowledge/Experience
* Clinical expertise in Head & Neck surgery/sub-specialty
Desirable
* Completed at least ST6 in OFMS
Research
* Essential: Demonstrate interest in clinical research
* Desirable: Previous publications and presentations
