Description
To support the production of dynamic and innovative content of the highest editorial and technical quality. This role will primarily work on all ITV News programs, platforms and in newsgathering, supporting Content Editors in delivering ITV News’ daily coverage.
This role requires a journalist with sound news judgement and the ability to motivate teams in a creative and disciplined manner. Key Responsibilities
1. Support content editors in making key editorial judgements to provide an appropriate mix of stories for ITV News
2. When in newsgathering to work on planning stories for future coverage, and on occasion to work in the field on planned or breaking news.
3. When working on programmes to take responsibility for packages and lives
4. When working on ITVX to lead on explainers, belts and other distinctive content
5. When working on digital to play a key role in commissioning, creating and curating content
6. Making decisions on news values, legal issues, taste and decency
7. To on occasion act up to the role of content editor and act as a leader in an operational team
8. Ensure our content reflects the diversity of our audience
9. Ensure there is close co-operation, understanding and creative cross-promotion of all ITV platforms

16. Experience of digital publishing and social posting, with an understanding on how best to present a story for digital platforms, is desired
17. Scrupulous attention to detail when checking content for accuracy and style
18. An eye for identifying the best use of picture and graphics
19. Experience of outputting content from the gallery
20. Experience of working across multiple platforms
21. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the importance of diverse contributors in news coverage
22. Good knowledge of Ofcom regulations and the ITN compliance manual
23. Awareness of Health and Safety requirements
24. Awareness and understanding of the financial implications of all decision making
25. An understanding of personal responsibility for cross-company cooperation within both ITN and ITV
